There are 14 States that have Non-Profit exemptions, for Licensing and Fire Code compliance, of certain types of Church ministries. In other areas of America, Churches and Ministries do not have a local Fire Code, yet fall under the jurisdiction of the State. In these cases, these Churches rarely, if ever, have heard from or seen a Fire Code Inspector or Fire Marshal due to staffing and proximity to the regulatory agency. Are you also aware that local, state, and Federal Fire/Life Safety and OSHA Regulations are Maintanance Codes and require periodic inspections, voluntary or involuntary (Admistrative Search), for continuous compliance? Just because you have never heard from the regulatory agency of even have knowledge of the Fire/Life Safety requirement for your particular Ministry Outreach, does not exempt you from the fact of LIABILITY. Make full proof of thy ministry!!! National Fire and Life Safety Regulations place compliance "due diligence" upon the Building Owner. Pastors and Leadership are held responsible for research, design, implementation, and compliance for all Buildings and Operations in New/ Existing ministries operated by the Church, regardless of prior knowledge...
